Feel To Heal
Who are we?
The School of Embodiment specialises in meditation, somatic healing, and embodiment practices.
We offer workshops, retreats, courses, and one-to-one sessions both online and in-person at our centre in the heart of Stroud.
There is a shift in emotional healing today—from mind-only approaches toward methods that include the body, its feelings, traumas, and patterns as gateways to deeper transformation.
Our philosophy is simple: feel to heal.
When we allow repressed emotions and energies to move through the body without being blocked by the mind, profound healing becomes possible.
Through these practices, we help restore emotional balance and guide students back to authenticity, wholeness, and ease.
The 3 Pillars Of Embodiment
Â
Â
Â
Â
1. Open The Body
Firstly, we must open up the muscles that are encasing and holding our repressed emotions down.
Without freeing these emotions, there can be little change and what does change is often.
2. Feel The Body
When the muscles are open and repression is accessible, then we must do that thing that we’ve spent most of our lives avoiding: feel.
We must see what is there, and have the willingness and intention to feel what comes ups.Â
3. Beyond The Body
In order to truly be in the body, we must also discover what we are beyond the body.
Discovering what we are as a Being, is fundamental to living a truly embodied life.
MeditationÂ
Â
Meditation, in the way we teach it here, has the potential to completely transform your experience of life.
By deeply connecting with the body, and learning not to believe the negative thoughts that move through the mind, we reconnect with a causeless sense of peace, joy, and happiness.Â
Meditation is especially helpful for those suffering from anxiety, an overactive nervous system, a busy mind, trauma, stress, or emotional difficulties.
It is also an incredible tool for those wishing to deepen their spiritual path and step into a more embodied way of living.

Bioenergetics
Bioenergetics is a radical somatic therapy designed to release repressed emotions and chronic tension held in the body. Its core principle is simple yet profound: to feel is to be alive.
By engaging the body directly, bioenergetics helps us move beyond our thinking mind and into deeper levels of sensation, intuition, and vitality. The practice supports emotional freedom, resilience, and a fuller experience of life.
It is grounded in three key elements:
- Stretching – using specific postures to open the body.
- Breathing – deep, open-mouth breathing to unlock stored emotion.
- Feeling – allowing whatever arises to be fully experienced.
Â
BreathworkÂ
Our approach to breathwork focuses on the deep connection between breath, emotions, and the physical patterns we hold in the body. We use full, connected breathing to gently release suppressed feelings and unwind chronic tension stored in the muscles.
Unlike many modern “get high” breathwork trends that aim for dramatic states or forced hyperventilation, our style is grounded, therapeutic, and embodied. It isn’t about chasing euphoria — it’s about softening the layers of tension and unprocessed emotions that shape how we feel, behave, and relate to ourselves.
By breathing consciously and fully into the body, old patterns of fear, grief, or anger can rise to the surface and naturally release, creating a sense of inner freedom, aliveness, and authentic self-expression.

What are the benefits of somatic inquiry?Â
If meditation grounds us in the body, inquiry invites us to look deeply into who we truly are.
Rather than endless analysis, somatic inquiry is a gentle questioning of who we feel ourselves to be.
IInquiry is woven into everything we offer — from classes and courses to retreats and workshops — sometimes through the mind, sometimes through the emotions, and sometimes through the body itself.Â
Discover how meditation and inquiry can bring you home to yourself.
